About Corinne Loxton
Corinne Loxton is an Australian painter whose practice investigates the experience of landscape as both observed and internally reconstructed.
Working primarily in oil, her paintings emerge from sustained engagement with specific environments, including the Blue Mountains and Central Australia. While grounded in direct observation, the works shift away from fixed representation, exploring how memory, perception and bodily experience shape the way landscape is encountered and understood.
Her recent work focuses on the instability between observer and environment, where landforms are not simply depicted but reconfigured through sensation and recall. Through gestural mark-making and a restrained palette, Loxton creates spatial fields that oscillate between physical terrain and psychological space.
Loxton holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of New South Wales and was awarded the Elioth Gruner Art Prize. Her work is held in the Artbank collection and private collections internationally.
