It’s not long to go now! The gallery is getting a fresh lick of paint, the slide show is being crafted and bubbly will soon go on ice.
I am looking forward to sharing my new paintings with you this weekend, when the doors to my studio and gallery are open. Realms and Ranges is primarily made up of paintings made in the open air (en plein air), both from the Capertee Valley and closer to home, here in the lower Blue Mountains. The works depict lofty skies and dynamic clouds as well as trees standing still as sentinels and peaks of ancient mountains. Many were painted alla prima, meaning all at once, so the mark-making is fresh and vibrant reflecting the immediacy of this technique. The oil paint has been applied quickly and boldly so that the colours and forms evoke the beauty and drama of the Great Dividing Range.
